Description
Residential Transition is a business that I am in the midst of launching and as such there are marketing options to consider and having a logo is critical. I chose Adobe Illustrator to address in this post because it was my favorite product and the logo was my lowest grade. I found Illustrator incredibly robust and powerful and didn’t even scratch the surface in use of its attributes. This was my first use of any of these products, so I have a lot of learning to continue.
I knew from the vision that I had that I wanted to include two things for sure: One was to try to make the “W” look like wings and that I would include a house that could intuitively describe our purpose as I didn’t want to use too many words
After posting my first draft, receiving feedback from my peers and working through the tutorials in the other units, there was no doubt that I needed to make changes.
I decided to make the background look more like a sky in support of the “wing” concept. I found cleaner pictures to use within the house that I hope will present images that are intuitive to what the services are. I also found a font that I think works well for the “W”, but admittedly, I’m not 100% sure that this will remain the final as I think I want to remove the “tail” on the W.
In use of the tools, I love the color swatches and gradients. I used several of the objects and grouped them onto a locked background. I used the Direct Selection tool so that I could move the entire image to locate it in the middle of the wings. This logo is also scalable and I was marked down for that on the original. I created the nails with the pen tool and other objects.
I plan to embed this logo onto a blog page I am creating as well as embedding onto my Facebook page. I don’t believe that my objective is limited to a specific age group, but I hope that senior will relate to the images and that my electronic delivery will connect with a younger audience.
